Surf Camp Sponsorship Program for Survivors
The OisF believes in the power of the sea to help strengthen and heal – it is our mission to get survivors and their families in and around the ocean, so that they can experience this power firsthand and learn a useful new tool to lean on in their healing journey. In furtherance of this mission, The OisF has developed a Surf Camp Sponsorship Program for survivors for boys and girls who have been abused or exposed to domestic violence to attend surf camp.
Who is eligible to apply for this Surf Camp Sponsorship Program?
This Surf Camp Sponsorship Program is open to any boy or girl who has been abused or exposed to domestic violence. Boys and girls ages 7 and up are encouraged to apply. Siblings are welcome to apply together. Applicants must be able to swim, but no surfing experience (or experience in the ocean) is necessary!
What is this Program all about?
The OisF has a partnership in place with Hammer Surf School for this Surf School Program. If selected for this Program, participants will receive five 3-hour group surf lessons from HSS, which can be scheduled by the participant on days/times throughout the summer that work best for them (the dates of the surf sessions do not need to be consecutive). There are HSS camp locations in Spring Lake, NJ; Seaside Park, NJ; and Lavallette, NJ. You can learn more about HSS Surf Kids’ Camp for ages 7-11 here and HSS Teen Group Surf Camp for ages 12-15 here.
What is the cost of this Program?
There is no cost to attend this Surf Camp Sponsorship Program. Your participation is sponsored by The OisF. Participants will receive a special code to book all sessions online directly with Hammer Surf School.
