Paint Waves - Local Artists Draw Awareness About The OisF
“Like a painting, the mighty, majestic sea draws us in, pulling us to her shores to gaze upon the intricacies of a seemingly infinite horizon. She is a source. An infinite inspiration to all. A home for every spirit. The ocean is a glorious conduit, a captivating force calling all of creation to slow down and imagine. Beckoning a busy world to quiet the mind and dream.” - Minnehaha
Saltwater Visionaries
Just as The OisF was born out of a saltwater vision, local artists Theresa Losa, owner of Beach People Studio and Olivia Hartgers of The Bleu Room, have also found the ocean to be a channel for their creativity and a place of healing- a unique shared experience that has served as a catalyst for these gracious creators to host a special holiday event in honor of The Ocean is Female. The “Sparkle and Gold Party”, being held on the evening of Thursday, December 5th at 1805 NJ-35 in Point Pleasant Beach between 5 and 8, will feature lite bites, live music and prizes, which will include a 26x36 original painting by Theresa Losa. Proceeds from the raffle prizes will be donated to The OisF Foundation.
The Ocean’s Song
Gaining national notoriety from her acclaimed series, “Beach People”, Modern Impressionist Artist, Theresa Losa aims to reflect the joy that her relationship with the ocean has provided. “For me, painting has a special element of storytelling. It is my hope that when people walk into my studio and see my paintings, they feel immersed in the tranquility and happiness of coastal life and that they can hear the song the ocean sings to my heart.”
As a consistent sponsor since our inception, Losa expresses her sincere appreciation for The OisF’s message and mission. “As a business owner, I am always seeking opportunities to give back to our community. Just like a good piece of art can open a dialogue, The OisF has had a profound impact, creating a conversation and awareness around the stigmatized, prevalent issue of domestic violence and abuse in our state. I am so happy that my art can serve as a vehicle to promote The OisF and support the pivotal programs and services they are providing for local girls and survivors.”
The Healing Power Of The Sea
Olivia Hartgers, another Point Pleasant-based fine artist and designer of Olive Surf added, “I am so excited to have a hand in helping The OisF by opening our doors at The Bleu Room to host this event in their honor. I have personally experienced the effects that stem from emotional abuse. Similar to Alli, The OisF’s founder, I have found there to be so many notable parallels between art and surfing as meditative, healing modalities. Surfing is similar to being an artist in the sense that both call us to push through fear and believe in yourself. I love how The OisF is helping survivors and young girls connect to the healing power of the ocean, encouraging them to explore their passion, their purpose and find meaning in their aspirations.”
An Ocean Of Community Support
“We are really honored to be recognized by these incredible artists in such a special way. Theresa Losa’s unwavering kindness over the years has always meant so much to us. For these women to organize and host this magnificent event for The OisF Foundation is a true gift,” Alli Scaduto, founder of The OisF, expressed.
“It is through community support, like this, that The OisF has had the ability to grow,” Alli added.
“Our Rider program which serves local girls in kindergarten through eighth grade has now touched the lives of over four hundred girls in Monmouth and Ocean County. Our Survivor program, recognized as being the first ever surf therapy program designed specifically for women impacted by abuse in the U.S.A, has now expanded to serve survivors throughout the entire year. We have also been able to create SEA, Survivor Emergency Assistance, a 100 percent community-funded program that provides immediate relief for survivors in crisis. It is through the substantial generosity of individuals, families and local businesses like Beach People Studio and The Bleu Room that we can continue to provide these life-changing programs and services.”
