"Shear" Kindness Salon Cartarae Treats Local Survivors To A ‘Get Glam, Night At The Salon’
As a part of The OisF’s expanded Survivor Program initiative to provide healing, community-oriented gatherings throughout the year, local survivors recently enjoyed a special Get Glam, Night At The Salon, generously provided by Salon Cartarae located in Sea Girt, NJ.
Sisterhood Happens At The Salon
“There is something so loving, so primal, so therapeutic and so empowering about stepping into the care of another woman to get your hair done. It’s sacred. It’s sisterhood in its purest form,” Alli Scaduto, Founder of The OisF described. “Our entire experience at Salon Cartarae was just different. There was such warmth and a palpable sense of love in the room. I can’t say enough about Tara, Rachel and their entire staff of talented stylists. They left no stone unturned when it came to making each of us feel welcomed.”
“When women join our group, the simple act of applying is an act of bravery. We have jobs. We have responsibilities. Many of us are mothers, daughters, aunts, sisters and caregivers. Accepting the fact that we are also survivors, sometimes gives us another reason to put our own basic needs on the back burner. Partaking in the act of self-care is so much more than having a trendy six step skincare routine, it’s really about having the courage to recognize our own self-worth.” Alli continued, “Salon Cartarae’s gesture was so much more than a haircut. I think I speak for many of us when I say that their service felt more like a gentle message to our spirit, that it is safe to be taken care of.”

“Our experience at Salon Cartarae was simply incredible,” a Survivor Program participant stated. “The level of thoughtfulness and care we were met with was beyond description. We all received fantastic goody bags filled with products and they let us choose items from their in-store boutique, The Vault, to level-up our wardrobes. Our evening at Salon Cartarae was magical and so good for the soul.”
The Power Of Community
“The women were lit up and glowing after getting pampered,” Casey Mauro, leader of The OisF’s Survivor Program explained. “This is the second time Salon Cartarae hosted our survivors and this year they made it even more special for our group. From snacks to swag bags, each stylist provided a full suite of offerings that included haircuts, blowouts and more. Many of the ladies in our program emphasized how long it had been since they even got a trim. It was truly heart-warming to hear them complimenting each other. Thanks to the wonderful owners and their outstanding staff, our group left Salon Cartarae with refreshed hair and a renewed sense of confidence.”
“The OisF’s Survivor Program is sustained and strengthened by the generosity of local businesses, organizations and practitioners who have given our group opportunities to experience new modalities of healing and an invaluable sense of togetherness along the way,” Casey added. “Salon Cartarae’s sincerity, generosity and genuine kindness will continue to be a loving reminder to our group that they are deserving of self-care and divinely supported by the power of community.”
