The OisF Rider Leadership Program: Learn About
The 2024 Leadership Program is currently closed. (5th-8th Grade)
The OisF views leadership as an internal superpower that we all possess. Leadership is not about what we do, it is about who we are. The OisF Leadership Program focuses on developing each Rider’s unique leadership style and teaching the skills and self-empowerment tools needed to build the confidence, trust and resilience that the girls need to not only lead themselves, but to lead others within our community at large.
Who is eligible to apply for the Program?
This Program is open to all girls in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. If you are not an existing OisF Rider, no problem! You will be able to sign up as part of the application process at no cost.
When is the Program?
The Program runs from October to June, with local in-person training Sessions on:
- October 26th
- December 11th
- February 26th
- April 30th
- June 25th
The Program begins on October 26th with a Leadership Summit at Spring Lake Heights Elementary School! The Leadership Summit will include "BRAVE TRAINING" by national speaker Crista Samaras - which presentation is open to anyone in The OisF community who would like to attend for a nominal fee. For those in the Leadership Program, the cost of this presentation is included in the Program fee.
In between Sessions, there will be opportunities for connection and community engagement - including a virtual "Waves of Leadership Challenge" where the girls will be able to practice the skills learned in a friendly competition form.
What we will do during the Sessions?
The Sessions will be activity-based. The first Session is our kickoff Leadership Summit, which will be held at Spring Lake Heights Elementary School on October 26th (from 10-1pm). The Summit will start off with a dynamic, interactive and thought-provoking "BRAVE TRAINING" run by Crista Samaras from 10-11am, followed by educational break-out sessions until 1pm (lunch to be provided). During this Session, OisF Leaders will learn and practice exercises to step out of their comfort zones and build their bravery muscles. In doing so they will grow their confidence, resilience, and agency while also getting reps connecting, communicating and engaging with others. They will leave this first Session with an acute focus on recognition of fear tendencies so they are able to plan intentional brave action in the future.
Each Session thereafter will focus on a different aspect of leadership development, including calming, connecting, confidence & courage, and community & civic-mindedness.
